The last drop of mass reviews spilled …

Sometimes when I am on deadline I and I start a new series it is so frustrating to not be able to keep going. I love binging a new series. It is one of the things I love most about reading is discovering in a new place, typically small town romances do this for me. In the last 2 months I have started two. I need to find more time to read the rest of both series.

Series I started and I am desperate to finish

Fighting for us by Claire Kingsley

Rating 4/5
Trope: Soulmates; Small Town; Family; Spin-off; Second Chance, Love through Trauma,
Put out percentage: 57%
CW: Does deal with anxiety and past violent acts

We read fighting for us for March Buddy Read Quick Shot of Romance on the Podcast. I have been hearing for what seems forever with how much people love this Bailey Brothers Series. It is a spin off from the Miles Family Series but you do not need to read the previous series. Technically Fighting for Us is book 2, there is a novella called Protecting You. Both books cover the same couple. There is a gap of 7 years between books.

This is such a unique story. It is almost like a second chance romance and relationship in crisis. Asher and Grace are childhood sweet hearts but one fateful night their lives are both changed. The Book starts with Asher being released from prison after serving 7 of a 8 years sentence. Asher has to learn to renavigation the world and learn to be free. Grace has waiting for Asher to be free thinking their relationship can get back to where it once was. She has held on to the love she has for Asher while Asher has kept Grace at arms length. There is so much emotion in this story. It was intense and I really was rooting for these two. Also the interactions between Asher and his 4 brothers I am desperate for their stories. This is a story that must be read in order which is very hard for me because there is one brother in particular I am desperate for his story.

Steel King by Devney Perry

Rating: 3.5/5
Series: Clifton Forge Book #1
Tropes: Small Town, advisories to lovers, opposites attract, suspense, Motorcycle Club,
POP: 31%

Dash and Bryce could not be more opposite. Dash is the strong and silent type. He is very much the type of hero who loves his solitude. He doesn’t put himself out to the world. Some of that is because of his days as President of a Motorcycle Club that is has now disbanded or it is just who he is. Bryce has come home from a a career in TV journalism to help her dad run the local small town paper. Bryce is out for a story and Dash wants to do everything he can to control the narrative. A murder and Dash’s dad being the number 1 suspect changed the story but not the chemistry. There was a lot of world building in the series. It is also a series that has to be read in order due to an over arching storyline with the murder.

I sometimes find 1st in series books to be daunting because of all the world building. Some authors can do it in a way that you don’t notice it. Other authors will spend what feels like chapter upon chapter of world building. I know that this story was one of Devney Perry’s earlier books because her current series The Edens does a much better job of world building with out making it feel like a task. This author also is very descriptive and can add to some of the stodgy feelings while reading. I think more banter or interactions versus internal dialogue might have helped it. I am invested in the series and need to know how it ends.

Quick Shot of Romance Episode Drops today 4/26 on this title.

I do like a series that each book stands on its own….

Back in January I reviewed book one Playboy Billionaire Club and I got a notice from Amazon that book 2 in the series was out. I quickly downloaded and made all the time to read it..

Two Nights with a Heartthrob by Lane Hart

Rating: 5/5
Series: Playboy Billionaire Club Book 2
Trope: Small town, One Night Stand, billionaire romance, alpha hero, Hollywood Star,
PoP: 14%

I am really enjoying this series from Lane Hart. I like that the books can be read on their own. These books are about 4 best friends who made their money by creating and designing a dating app. Each guy has since gone on their way to other exploits. This is the story of Micah and Kylie. Two people so far apart. Kylie was raised middle class has moved to Hollywood to become a screen writer. She is living in a two bedroom house with 7 other people… they sleep in bunk beds…

Micah comes from money and raised by servants over parents. He has come to Hollywood to be a star. But all anyone sees is a Playboy with too much money and time on his hands. No one takes him seriously. Both are kind of at a standstill in their chosen careers but they bond of a crappy Agent who has screwed them both over.

I really liked both these characters. Micah is more than meets the eyes. He just wants to be loved and have someone truly care about him. I can understand his playboy ways , they were kind of understood. Kylie is kind of shortsighted. She drove me a bit bonkers. She is absolutely a character that did not see what was right in front of her. These two needed each other and once they came together they were electric. I highly recommend this series. There are still 2 more friends to be fall victim to love!
This series is a part of Kindle Unlimited.

I think that is it. There might be a few others but for now I think I caught all the important ones I wanted to tell you all about. My goals is to keep up on my reviews better so I don’t have to dump like 15 at a time. As always have a book you think I should be reading, tell me about it. I have some time and will happy add it to the TBR Jar.

Happy Reading Everyone Until Next Time!
