Review: A Ticking Time Boss by Olivia Hayle
Rating: 5/5 PoP: 42% New York Billionaires Book 4
Audrey Ford is nervous on first dates, but thinks it is time to try if she ever wants to find love. Carter Kingsley is not necessarily looking for love but is willing to help Audrey get out of an uncomfortable situation. Their meet-cute is unique and adorable. They start as friends and things are going well until Audrey is sent to interview the new CEO. Carter works with his three friends and co-owners for a venture investment firm, Acture Capital. Audrey is not even sure how they can still be friends while Carter is hoping to be more than friends. Carter is great at respecting the choices Audrey makes and acknowledges that a relationship with him may make things difficult for her at work. However, the fears of his past can lead him to omit hard truths. As observant and understanding as Audrey is, she often goes with her first conclusion. This combination leads to their conflict.
I like that both of these characters are less than perfect. They have great chemistry and build a solid foundation but still have a few stumbles. But they learn from those and move forward together. Audrey is a smart and caring woman that loves Carter for who is and not what he is. Carter quickly realizes that Audrey is the type of woman that is earned rather than charmed and shows her his true self in that attempt. I really love the cute banter and support these two share. Hayle does well at developing complete and believable characters that you want to know.
This was the first book in the series that I have read and it stood alone very well. I believe those that have read the series in order will be rewarded with the glimpses of the previous couples. I will be adding the first three books to my TBR.
