I LOVE this series, and I LOVE Lexi Blake. Taylor and Drake meet and have an instant connection that they act on, but then they get pulled apart.

We meet them a year + later and they are both reeling from events that have happened since they met.

Drake is a man who has lived a life of deceit. Taylor is a woman who has lived a life of sheltered chaos in a way. These two find themselves at an impasse. Both believe one thing, when they don’t have the full story. Drake isn’t sure who he can trust when the people he is supposed to be able to trust are some of the ones that have broken that. Taylor is on a mission for revenge, and Drake is on a mission of discovery.

There is a lot of growth from both characters in this book, and we get a whole host of visits from past Blake characters. There is a scene with Ian Taggart, who if you have read Blake then you know is extremely blunt and sarcastic, but in this story there is an emotional level to him that we don’t always get. He gives Drake some truths and opens his eyes to some realities of their lives and relationships. There is an overarching storyline that flows from the last book, and while you don’t have to read it, you get a better idea of who all the players are. This is a second generation series done right.
