I have been anxiously waiting for this book since I finished book 11 in the Arizona Vengeance when Sawyer Bennett sets the stage for this new series. Baden starts out with the rebuilding of the Pittsburgh Titans hockey team after a horrific plane crash. Baden is at a cross-roads of where his life is going as he continues his recovery. YOU DO NOT need to read the Vengeance to understand the story behind everything but honestly you are doing yourself a disservice if you don’t! Baden and Sophie are truly perfect together. They are bonded over the attack that has affected everything in their lives since, and while they started their healing separately, they made huge strides in healing together. This is a slow burn, but there is so much world building and friendship to relationship budding in this book that you don’t even notice. These two have such a connection that you don’t miss those moments. We meet so many new characters in this book, but it isn not overpowering of the story, and it truly sets the stage for an amazing series to come. Coming from the Pittsburgh area, I love the treatment that Sawyer Bennett gives the city and Pittsburgh sports! You NEED to read this book it is no doubt going to be one of the best books of the year, and it is only January!
