Until I Remember by Karla Sorensen

Heartbreak and hope in equal measure.

Until I Remember is one of my top reads of 2026, and it has officially cemented itself as one of my favorite Karla Sorensen books.

Mercy Kincaid might be one of my favorite characters I’ve ever read. She is sharp and sassy even in the middle of losing a year of her life. Her humor never feels out of place given everything she is trying to navigate. Watching her wake up in a marriage she doesn’t remember choosing, married to a man she only remembers as cold and haughty, made for such a compelling read.

The structure of this book is brilliant. We start in Grant’s POV before the memory loss. Then we spend the majority of the story in Mercy’s perspective as she tries to piece together the life she can’t remember. When Grant’s POV returns after a pivotal moment, it gives us the chance to finally see everything Mercy couldn’t. That structure worked so well because we’re rediscovering their relationship right alongside Mercy while still carrying the weight of what Grant knows.

And Grant? Exactly the kind of irritating, hot, older man I didn’t know I needed. The chemistry between these two is off the charts, even when Mercy’s memories tell her they were constantly at odds. There’s so much heartbreak and hope woven into their relationship. Watching them find their way back to each other had my heart breaking and soaring at the same time. Every time Grant shares “just one thing” from their past, I fell a little harder.

This is the kind of book that reminded me why I love Karla Sorensen’s writing. I couldn’t put it down, and I already know this one is going to stay with me for a long time.
