Breathe by Elise Faber
In Breathe, we again meet Theo and Eva. wasn’t sure if I was going to like Theo by the end of this book. There were so many biases based on his history that it was hard to trust that he was going to be able to let Eve in. Eve is stuggling to survive in many ways. Her father passed away years ago, and her mother is terrible. So she does what she can to help out her siblings. Even when those choices aren’t making her happy, but she feels as though she has no choice.
Elise Faber is never one to steer clear of some of the harder topics. Breathe is no exception.
Theo is more than meets the eye. He is extremely protective of his family, and even with the hang-ups on his past. Once he decides that Eve is a sure thing for him, he moves forward without thought. Faber’s heroes might sometimes hold back but once they are in… they are ALL in.
Eva’s character you feel for her. You know there is more going on in her life as you learn about her, but Faber teases you into is slowly. These Breaker books show how connected this found family truly is. But also that they are open and willing to do anything for the people they hold close.
These stories standalone and you can jump around from book to book without issue. However, you get little snippets and Easter Eggs of the other couples in these books.
