Elise Faber is never one to shy away from hard backgrounds and subjects. Beth is a character that we have met in previous books, but you get snippets of her. You get into her truth and backstory in this book and how much of her past that she has kept from even her best friends. Raph is one of the players on the Breaker’s team, and while in other books you got some of his back story and his reason for staying away from women, but you get more insight into that story and his feeling in this book.

Beth is acting as a surrogate for her friends Pru and Marcel. Beth is this selfless person who does all she can to make her friends happy and is enriched in a charitable life. She is inherently good, but she has dark shadows because of her background. Your heart will break for her when you read about what she keeps close and why. Raph is reeling from the break-up he had, but also the fact that he has been attracted to Beth from the moment they met. Even though he was in a relationship at the time and wouldn’t be able to do anything about it. However, he was frustrated about it, and hasn’t been the best person to her.

Beth has a moment and Raph is there to help, and he decides that is isn’t going to stay away, but both of these characters have to come to some realizations on their own as well as together. Faber constantly puts an emphasis on the healing power of therapy and talking about your issues. Whether it be with someone qualified professionally or someone connected in an unexpected way. I am loving this series and I know I am being vague, but there is so much in this book that you need to read and experience for yourself. I know that I can’t wait to see where she takes us next.
