More Book Reviews for books not on my TBR

I am still kind off reading all the things not on my TBR. But here is what I read over a 2 day period. Most of these were just ok. Nothing dynamic and nothing I am absolutely in love with. It covers two relatively new to me authors. I am going to try some other books by them before I make a final verdict. All three books had characters that drove me bonkers. From being assholes to immaturity. I do wonder if all their characters are like this.

First up the The Bodyguard by S. Doyle.
Rating: 3/5
Trope: Bodyguard, Protector, Small Town, Hollywood Star, Close Proximity
Available in Kindle Unlimited

The Bodyguard is book 2 in the King Family Saga.  I am reading this series in order I do think that this book can be read as a standalone. The books are interconnected but each book has its own HEA.

This is the story of youngest sister Sabrina and Garret the small-town Sheriff.

The book does move across multiple years.  The book was short and just did not live up to everything I wanted from it.  It was ok. The Stalker component needed more development.  Garrett was an ass and a hard to love character. Coming off book 1 this book did not live up to my expectations.  I do feel like there was an immaturity to both characters and neither showed great growth. I spent a lot of time wanting to smack Garrett.

I do think you can skip this story. It does not move the overarching storyline much that you would be lost going into book3.   I am kind of bummed by this story.  Also, the book was filled with errors and looks as if it was not proof read.  Overall, just ok not remarkable at all.

CW: Fat phobia, stalker kidnapping

Next up Bad Daddy by J.D. Hollyfield.

Dirty Little Lies Duet #1
Rating: 4/5
Trope: Single Dad, Forbidden, Daughter’s Roommate, Age-Gap, Kink
Available in Kindle Unlimited

When trying a new author, I like to read a current release and some of their older content. This title of course screamed to my Daddy Kink Loving Heart.

I really did enjoy this book.  It was sexy forbidden and all things I want when going for Daddy Kink Romance.  I really liked Heath his struggle of crossing the line with his daughter’s college roommate was just the angst this story needed. Violet was a woman with a goal.  She was not going to let go of her pursuit of Heath.

This was a fast and sexy read.  I was all in for it.  This book is a great age-gap, Daddy kink, and smutty read.  If you enjoy the forbidden than you should absolutely give this title a try.

This story is plot lite.  There is also an obsessed/stalker like character in the story. It is not very dynamic and could have been left out.

Sweet Little Lies by J.D. Hollyfield.

Dirty Little Lies Duet #2
Rating: 3/5
Trope: Forbidden, Age-Gap, Dad’s best friend, Dom/sub, Kink,
Available in Kindle Unlimited

This is book 2 in the Dirty Little Lies Duet.  While Daddy Heath is pursuing her roommate Hazel is pursing dad’s best friend Gabriel.

There was not much storyline or plot to this book. It was a quick and fast read. I was super frustrated with Gabriel, the push and pull between him and Hazel was at times too much. Like seriously dude grow a pair and go for it.  Gabriel is very much overly alpha and gruff.  He is not used to be pursued and is taken a back when Hazel comes at him full force.

Hazel had major impulse control and was a hard character to like. She also was at time too stupid to live. I really struggled with her.  But this is a well written story.  It just fell flat after reading book one in the duet.

I will be back soon with more reviews as sticking to a timeline or TBR seems to be something I am not capable of these days!

Happy Reading!
