Anna Hackett does it again with Ryder Morgan and Siv Pedersen. Siv is the newest employee of Norcross, and from the moment that Ryder saw her from across the room he is smitten. She is a strong heroine who doesn’t need someone to protect her, and Ryder sees that strength and allows her to be herself. She has been a little jaded in her past relationships because her ex didn’t see her need to create the life that she lived. Ryder has depth that you aren’t expecting, but knew was coming at the same time. The relationship that he has with the people on the streets that are the basis of the case these two are working on is heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. I adored the way that Ryder treated Siv and the fact that he saw her true worth, and needed her to see it as well.

We get snippets and glances into the other couples of this series, but it is a true standalone. Hackett has a way with words that keeps you engaged for every page, and I am always disappointed when I get to the end. Not because it wasn’t good, but because I didn’t want it to be over. This is a series that I could re-read over and over again and never be bored.
