Review: The Mrs. Degree by Sara Ney
Rating: 4/5 Accidentally in Love Book 2
When Penelope Halbrook found out she was pregnant, she probably did not respond in the best way. She was deeply in love with Jack Jennings and knew he had a bright future ahead as a pro football player. She was not going to do anything to keep that from happening, including telling him about their daughter. Seven years later, Jack shows up to Penelope’s brother’s house in search of her. He has been having dreams about her that are starting to affect his game play and hopes she can help put an end to them. Both feel the spark that never left but there is one big secret that cannot be ignored.
Jack aka Skip is a swoon worthy book boyfriend. He never doubted his love for Penelope or a future with her. But when she disappeared from his life, he probably could have tried a little harder. They were so young but their past mistakes still show the love they had for each other. They overcome these issues quickly for the sake of their daughter, Harper/Skipper. Jack is all in very quickly, while Penelope needs to deal with the fears that caused her to run away the first time.
Similar to the first book in this group, this is a low angst/drama read. Yes, there is a secret baby but it is not a secret for long in the book. The characters are mature and handle their problems head on instead of running from them or self sabotaging. Jack is almost perfect and very forgiving. Skipper is an adorable and energetic seven year old that is very age appropriate. Jack’s friend and agent, Elias Cohen will be the next to find himself accidentally in love.
