Review: I Got Abducted by Aliens and Now I’m Trapped in a Rom-Com by Kimberly Lemming
Cosmic Chaos Book 1
Okay, hear me out. LOL. This book is absolutely as chaotic and hilarious as the title suggests, but it’s also wildly entertaining and packed with heart. Kimberly Lemming really knows how to deliver a rom-com with a twist—and by twist, I mean DINOSAURS and HOT ALIENS.
First off, I LOVED Dorothy (aka Dory). She’s the type of FMC who just gets you. She’s smart (hello, PhD in wildlife biology), sarcastic, a little messy, and unapologetically herself. I found myself laughing out loud at her inner monologues and totally relating to her reactions, despite, you know, the whole abducted by aliens, crash-landed on a planet with prehistoric creatures situation.
Now, let’s talk about Toto. YES, THE LION. Honestly, Toto stole the show for me. His sassy, deadpan commentary had me in stitches, and I legit teared up towards the end because… feelings. I’m devastated that lions don’t talk in real life because clearly, I need one in my life.
Enter Sol and Lok: the two alien hotties who bring the “rom” to this intergalactic rom-com. Sol is the affectionate, attentive book boyfriend we all dream about. He LISTENS, y’all. Like, actually remembers the little things. Swoon. Lok, on the other hand, gives off major “touch her and die” vibes, and honestly, I was here for every intense, brooding moment.
Oh, and shoutout to The Intern, who provided top-tier comedic relief with their misguided attempts to make sense of human culture. I was laughing so hard, it hurt.
But here’s the thing: this isn’t just some silly, over-the-top space adventure (though it is gloriously over-the-top). It has a solid, twisty plot that kept me on the edge of my seat. There were moments of real tension, unexpected twists, and yes, mortal peril. I was genuinely invested in how everything would play out.
