When I got about 25% into this book, I had a hard time deciding if I wanted to finish the book. I did not like Piper in the least. She was a self-centered and shallow person that I had a really hard time connecting with. Brendan I liked from the get go, even though he was rough around the edges. But I powered through, and am happy that I did. I still didn’t love Piper by the end of the book, but at the same time I felt that she grew so much throughout the book that she grew on me. I would have loved her if she had a little more depth from the get go, but I understand Bailey’s reasoning for writing her in the way she did. Brendan himself had a lot of growing to do because he was so stuck in this endless cycle of sameness. These two truly brought the best of each other out, and I as happy to see the growth in both of them. If you start this and have a hard time with Piper, power through. You won’t be disappointed. I am giving this a 3 because of my intense dislike for Piper from the get go, and the fact I truly didn’t like her until about 75% of the way through the book, and also because I can’t give 1/2 stars.
