Penny Reid is the queen of slow burns… the queen of the awkward characters… the queen of so much. Cyrus and Beth are both these independent and sure people but at the same time they are crippled with insecurities. This book take a new take on the bodyguard romance in the sense that Cyrus our movie star hero is given an entourage to keep him safe. This entourage is six women body guards.
Beth and Cyrus have one of the most delightfully funny meet cutes I have read I a while, and what follows this book is so much chaos and back and forth. There are moments of humor but there are also moments of strong emotions. These are two flawed people who see what they want, but have no idea as to how to get it. This is a book you need to read to get the nuances of characters. There is an amazing supporting cast that is needed and very much a part of the story, but they don’t overtake the pages. But as I said.. Penny Reid is the queen of so much.
