Etienne LaFayette and Matilda Deveraux have a chance meeting along side the road, but don’t truly meet until she finds out that he is going to be the one heading up the build of her veterinary practice with her best friend.
Matilda is neurodivergent and has sensory issues, and I feel as though Lani Lynn Vale did a great job bringing these to the forefront of the book without making them a character flaw, but rather a character enhancements.
Etienne and Matilda are a sure thing, however they’re circumstances that keep them apart. Etienne is a little blind to the reason behind the animosity of Mattie’s world is chaos behind her with no support except from her best friend Diana (who is the heroine from book two). Etienne has gotten out of prison after spending six years there… I didn’t love this book as much as other books because there was something about Etienne that id dint’ connected with right away. But that being said, I still enjoy this series and can’t wait for the next book.
If you are looking for an intensive MC series, this is not it. There are MC elements, but if you read book one (read my review here), then you know they aren’t really an MC.
