Quick Shot of Romance: Lady Sophia’s Lover by Lisa Kleypas

On This episode of a Quick Shot of Romance we are reviewing Lady Sophia’s Lover by Lisa Kleypas. This is Bow Street Series Book 2.

Joining Becky on this quick shot of romance is Duchess Katie , who is bookstaKatie on Instagram.

Synopsis from Good Reads:

Why is Lady Sophia looking for a lover?
And could she seduce the most marriageable man in London?
Lady Sophia Sydney would do anything to ensnare the unattainable Sir Ross Cannon. Her goal: to ruin his reputation and cause a scandal that would be the talk of all London. So she insinuates herself into his life by gaining his trust and living in his house.
Every morning, her lush presence tempts him beyond all reason . . . the way she bends over the table to serve him the meals she has prepared . . . the way her hands oh, so gently—yet sensuously—brush against him. Every night, she promises with her eyes—and her body—that the hours before dawn could be spent in unbridled passion instead of restless sleep—if only he’d let her share his bed.
She knows he is falling more in love with her each day. But she never counted on falling in love with him. And she never dreamed he might very respectably ask for her hand in marriage.

Did you like this book?
Katie: I love this book! It’s one of my favorites by Lisa Kleypas. I love how this one takes place with people who aren’t a part of the aristocracy. It’s bigger than making babies and carrying on a lineage. And these characters WORK.
Becky: So very much!  This is the kind of regency romance I love! This was more than just finding someone to marry.  The plot was well done and the story was engaging.

Who would typically like the book?
Katie: I think long-time fans of historical romance will love this, but I think contemporary readers would like it too.
Becky: Anyone who likes historical fiction but really if you like a silver fox romance this is smoking hot!

Would you recommend this book?
Katie: 100%!  I think more people need to read more historical romance and again, this would be a great jumping off point for seasoned histrom readers (like Becky!) Who are coming back to it, and contemporary fans.
Becky: I would for sure!  I am intrigued to read the rest of this series.
