Dr. maddening, Dr Jack-a Monkey, Dr. Closed off. But the strong broody type has a way of making themselves desirable!
Dr. Nathan Alexander Hotshot orthopedic surgeon is just one of these men! He is totally the closed off broody type. He is doing everything in his power to keep his private life private. He does not mix business with pleasure at all. But Cassidee (Dee) changes that for him. One random elevator run in has her on his mind.
Dee is new to Rhode Island having left her mountain home of Colorado for a change to expand her Physical Therapy Career. She is in a away running from heart ache but also proving she can achieve her dreams. She is young and ready to take on the world. She has a strong sense of pride and self-assurance. I really liked her character. While the author often refers to her as being stubborn, I think it is more that she knows what she wants and will achieve her goals. I do wish she has been more vocal about Nate’s desire to keep things “quiet”. The author hinted at her discomfort but never really gave it a voice in the story. Given her resilience and her past hurt I think she would have been more vocal about keeping things on the down low even if she did understand Nate’s reasoning why.
As always, I am happy to see glimpses of Bridget and Simon from British Bedmates. They are my most favorite of couples from the original Cocky Heroes. I also enjoyed the interactions with Nate’s brothers, and I hope we get to their stories. I am a huge fan of hockey romances and to see have just a tiny glimpse of the “Great” Xavier Alexander has me wanting more from him. This was a great story and quickly will float to the top of my favorites in this series. There was enough steam, passion and crazy to make this a fun read! This was a 4/5 read for me. I just wish Dee had held her ground a little more with Nate, but sometimes it is easier to just love than to fight.
