I picked up this book on sale recently, and haven’t read Joslyn Westbrook before and love finding new authors. I am not disappointed in this read.

Macy has been in love with her best friend and roommate Lucas for years. Lucas has feelings for her as well, but the two of them took a pinky-swear pact to always be best friends. This pact has led both of them to be afraid to say anything. However, Macy decided that she was finally going to tell Lucas the truth… but on the night she is going to… Lucas comes home and says he is engaged. Macy falls apart and accidentally posts a diary entry about how much she loves him onto her blog.

What follows is Lucas and Macy working through their feelings and dealing with the repercussion of the decision made because of the post. I really loved these two together. They have been friends forever, so they know each other inside and out, but yet they still hold things back from each other. They don’t have the best communication skills especially when it comes to talking about things that they want and need. Ultimately, this is what ends up forcing their third act break-up. But during this, the two of them both see that they each made some bad choices and needed to be more open and honest about what was going on with their lives. This is a friends to lovers trope that works well because they have always had feelings for each other and it wasn’t this all of a sudden moment of clarity.
