Bad Idea| Stonewall Investigations- Miami by Max Walker

Max Walker was recommended to me on BookTok and when I saw he had a private investigation/detective series I knew that I needed to read the series! I actually listened to the audio version of this book on Hoopla, but it is available on KU as well.  I

When we meet Jonah he is in a relationship with a woman, and she is a terrible human.  Off the bat it was evident that Jonah had some struggles in his life and was needing a change to bring his life back into focus. I immediately fell in love with Jonah and couldn’t wait for him to get his HEA.  He genuinely has a good heart and is passionate about doing the right thing.

And Gabriel or Fox as he is referred to, well this former military man is a diamond in the rough. He is an out gay man.  He hasn’t really had time to find love, and recently found his place at Stonewall Investigations in Miami.  This investigation firm is LGTBQ friendly and they work with the underserved population to help solve crimes when law enforcement is unable to.  Jonah, recently unemployed, and is looking to join the Stonewall team.

From the start these two have some palpable chemistry that Jonah especially is trying to wrap his head around.  One of my favorite things that Max does is set the scene for readers in vivid detail, it really felt like I was sitting at the outdoor restaurant with Jonah and Fox as they get to know each other.  And at one point, I reminded myself that it was still the first day they met each other. The pair gelled both personally and professionally. I really found myself not only engaged with Jonah and Foxes budding romance, but also their work and how they go about finding an elusive drug dealer.

If you are a new MM romance reader and like a little mystery, then this is the book and series for you!  I cannot wait to read more of Max’s books!
