Falling for the Fake Lumberjack by Sara Ney
Fake lumberjacks, yoga pants, and a week-long fling with big feelings.
Falling for the Fake Lumberjack leans into fun from the start. Star Lake is a charming small town, the team retreat setup worked for me, and I genuinely liked both Lucy and Harris. Lucy being a yoga instructor was a nice touch, Harris is very much a cocky golden retriever, and his teammates brought some great humor. Annabelle easily stole scenes for me, and I’m already excited for her book.
Where the story wobbled a bit was the mistaken identity. It was entertaining, but it stretched my suspension of disbelief, especially once Harris was regularly around his teammates. Harris could also feel a little inconsistent, though his goofy moments and determination to impress Lucy were highlights. Overall, this is a quick, steamy, low-stress read that leans into fun, even when it gets a little absurd. I did wish for an epilogue to better wrap up Lucy and Harris’s future, but I still enjoyed this one and will happily continue the series.
