Poppy Kisses | Marie Johnston

This series has had me hooked from book #1! I love marriage of convenience, a small town, and a meddling family! The premise of meddling grandmother just sweetened the deal! Poppy is the 3rd Duke sibling to find herself back in Crocus Valley, North Dakota after their grandmother’s passing looking for a husband.

Jensen is a single dad back in his small hometown after divorcing. He works hard to make ends meet and puts his son first. But Jensen is most definitely just going through the motions, so when Poppy Duke reappears in his life as his son’s tutor he is ecstatic. Poppy and Jensen have a lot of history. Jensen is excited to have Poppy back in his life.  Poppy on the other hand is back in her hometown mending her heart and ego. She has really found something that she is passionate about and wants to make it all work.  Poppy is so very hard on herself, and I really wish she could have seen herself from the readers, Jensen, Auggie, and her family’s eyes. Poppy is so kind, smart, driven, and loving. While she and Jensen have history they both see their history differently.
I think so many women will be able to relate to Poppy and play the comparison game thinking we don’t measure up to someone else, but given we have Jensen’s perspective we know that she has his heart in her hands. I thoroughly enjoyed the progression of their relationship and the “rules” that they set. These two really were so perfect for one another.  One of my favorite parts is that I could see myself being friends with them, and watching them fall in love with one another was so special. I adore spending time with the Duke family and I am so excited for what is to come in this series…yes, I am already counting down to Clover’s book!
