This book is 100% from Cal’s POV. If you read Heartbreak Warfare, then you got Jenna’s POV. This book starts with Cal making the decision that he is done being away from Jenna and he is going to do what it takes to find her and get her back. He finds out so many things when he finally does. Their journey to their HEA is not easy. I did not read Heartbreak Warfare prior to reading this book, so I know going into it, you aren’t not lost on the way in which the story plays out. Marin does an excellent job re-introducing this world and these characters that it makes sense. Cal doesn’t always make the best choices when it comes to Jenna, but at the same time you can see why he makes the decisions he does. Jenna does not accept him back into her life easily, and when you find out why, you can understand her hesitations with allowing him back in her life. There are fights, with words thrown at each other. Both characters both make choices that seem almost out of character at times, but there are so many emotions between these two that one they pull back from those moments it works. I typically do not like books from only on POV but being that this one is the secondary person’s take on their relationship I didn’t mind it at all. Especially since I was able to get that perspective from book 1 of this series. The original series was published back in 2018 but Marin didn’t make any missteps in creating this new addition.
