Hunter Buchanan has come home to Green Valley after his divorce. Iris Black is also back in Green Valley raising her younger brother. This book was totally worth the wait. Iris and Hunter were high school sweethearts, but Iris got scared and pushed him away. Hunter took that and ran and stayed away for years. These two have never stopped loving each other, but Iris is still afraid. She had a bad home life, and tried to shield everyone from her background.
I loved the relationship between these two… and the relationship that Hunter creates with Iris’s little brother Theo is perfect. Theo is reeling from their mother’s choices and is floundering a little in his schooling. Hunter makes a safe space for Theo in his summer program and allows Theo to thrive in this environment. My heart broke for Iris when you hear her reasons for pushing Hunter away, but he isn’t going to allow it to happen this time. There is a moment with Joss that is wonderful because she gives advice and doesn’t hold back to how he made mistakes years ago. Being in Green Valley is wonderful and there are so many moments that I didn’t want to end in this story.
