Wolftamer by Maggie Rapier

A heartfelt, satisfying finale that gives Saoirse and Faolan the ending they deserve.

Wolftamer is a satisfying conclusion to the Magpie and the Wolf duology. Maggie Rapier once again blends adventure and old magic into a story that feels both intimate and epic as Saoirse and Faolan fight for the future they want.

I appreciated having Faolan’s POV throughout this book. His struggle with the loss of his freedom and purpose wasn’t always easy to read. There were moments where his frustration overstayed its welcome, but it made his eventual growth all the more meaningful. Seeing Saoirse finally embrace who she truly is was equally rewarding, and I loved watching her step into her own power.

The world remains rich with mythology, and I continued to enjoy how the larger conflict unfolded alongside the romance. The found family elements were another highlight, adding warmth to the story’s darker moments. The middle occasionally dragged, but the final chapters pulled everything together in a way that felt true to these characters. By the last page, I believed completely in Saoirse and Faolan’s future, and I closed the book feeling like this duology had come to a fitting conclusion.
