Anna Hackett just keeps getting better and better.  This is the first book in her spin-off series Sentinel Security, and it hits everything that I want in a protector romance.

Nick “Wolf” Garrick has been called by his little sister to protect her best friend.  The best friend that Wolf has avoided because he has feelings for her but being older and damaged he has kept his distance.  Lainie Madden has had a crush on Wolf forever, but he made it known that there wouldn’t be anything between them.

So, she has lived her life, created an extremely successful business, and has created a life that she is content with.  That is until there is a threat to her and her company.  Enter Wolf… the man dances around his feelings, but soon realizes that Lainie isn’t some naïve and soft woman.  She is capable to handle the type of man he is… she sees the truth in him, not the lies that his stepfather used to tell him.

This is a great series starter where we get to know some of the Sentinel team, but it is not overwhelming.  If you are a fan of Anna Hackett’s work, you get cameos from some past characters, but you don’t need to have read the books because the way they are introduced is organic and works well.  But you do miss on some of the context of the comments made.

I adored these two together… they had a bond that was forged early but neither of them truly realized it.  I am so excited for more to come!
