The Tryst by Lauren Blakely
Wow, I absolutely adored The Tryst by Lauren Blakely!
The Virgin Society Series is quickly becoming a favorite must read series for me. The characters were simply amazing. I have a confession to make: I absolutely adore age gap romances, and when they’re combined with the forbidden trope, I am all in. So naturally, I was beyond excited to dive into this book, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint.
This book was a mature adult romance in every sense of the word, with no petty dramas or immature tantrums. Their chemistry was scorching hot, and I appreciated the fact that there was a conversation before things got physical. It’s always refreshing to see mature characters in romance novels.
The age gap between the two main characters was handled with such precision that it felt believable and realistic. The forbidden aspect of their relationship was just enough to draw me in and keep me hooked until the very end and was expertly executed in Layla and Nick’s story.
Their initial connection was so strong that even though they only spent one night together, it was clear that there was so much more between them than just a physical attraction. This set the stage for the rest of the story, which was expertly crafted.
Despite their differences on paper, Layla and Nick complemented each other so perfectly once they let down their walls. Layla may be young, but she’s wise beyond her years due to the challenges she’s faced. Her friends were also endearing and supportive, helping her grow and change.
The challenges that Layla and Nick faced were significant, but I loved how the author minimized the drama and focused on mature communication. It’s a type of story that I absolutely adore because it avoids unnecessary angst and drama. In fact, mature communication is my kink, if you will.
What surprised me the most was the depth of the story and the unexpected twists and turns that it took. The book didn’t end in the place I was anticipating, but it was such a satisfying conclusion that I couldn’t help but be impressed.
I could go on and on about how much I loved this book, but I don’t want to spoil the plot and pacing for anyone else. Suffice it to say that if you love age gap and forbidden romances, you won’t be disappointed by this one.
I can’t wait for the next book in this series, and I have a feeling that we might have seen a hint of the next couple in one of the scenes.
