Our Perfect Storm by Carley Fortune
Reminding us that friends to lovers can really be “that girl.”

Format: Audiobook

Carley Fortune’s books have always been the pinnacle of summer vibes and nostalgia for places I’ve never been. Our Perfect Storm is the coming together of childhood friends Frankie and George. It’s the beginning of Frankie’s wedding weekend and she doesn’t even know if George will show up as her best man after their last falling-out – which is unlike any other time they’ve fought and made up. When he walks in, everything is right with the world…until her fiancé leaves her a note calling it all off. Frankie wants to go home and wallow, but George has a different idea; They go on the honeymoon.
Admittedly, friends to lovers is not my favorite trope. If anything, I avoid it out of sheer stubbornness. I listened to Our Perfect Storm as an ALC from Libro.fm and did not realize what I was getting into plot wise. As the story went along I found myself wondering how things were going to change for these two. This book is (mostly) single POV with duet narration and even with that, I felt like both their feelings were clear as glass.
What got me with this book was the imagery and sense of place Carley brought into the book. I have never been to Tofino, British Columbia but after reading this I need to go immediately. Seriously, look this place up. The vibes were immaculate, the tension was hot and when the walls were broken down I was HOOKED.
Whether you love friends to lovers or are not sure it’s for you, Our Perfect Storm will have you feeling the sun and water and wishing for someone to confess they’ve been in love with you since you were kids. Put this on your TBR immediately!
