One Night with a Nutcracker by Jana Aston
Rating: 5/5
Tropes: Holiday Novella; Small Town; Grumpy Hero
Series: Reindeer Falls Book5
POV: Single 1st Person
This a great addition to the Reindeer Falls collection. I love the fact that Sutton Stewart is essentially squatting with her goats on a piece of property that Jake Sheppard has inherited. But her thought process that was empty for years and no one came looking makes sense. The goats and their names were a great side character to this story, and the way in which Sutton treats them is great.
These two butt heads over so many things, but the reaction that Jake has to her goats and the way she lives is so similar to the way his brother acts. The fact that he wants to turn this property into a golf course is a tragedy to Sutton and she tries to show him all the mazing things her goats have to offer. There are moments that you question what is going to drive Jake to stay…but there is a moment with an inspection that he throws down in defense of Sutton and the way he changes his tune about the goats is adorable.
I wanted a little bit more interaction between the friends, and we have yet to truly have any interaction between the brothers, but I am really enjoying these quick and steamy holiday novellas.
