Irresistibly Wild by J Saman

“Irresistibly Wild” Book Review: A Pleasant Surprise for Fans of Layla Fritz from J Saman’s Boston Billionaire Series

Going into “Irresistibly Wild,” I was cautiously optimistic. Layla Fritz, a beloved character from J Saman’s Boston Billionaire Series, was making an appearance in the Irresistibly Yours Series, which I hadn’t been enjoying. However, the author managed to do right by this character, and I was pleasantly surprised!

The story begins with Layla, a 23-year-old woman, meeting Callan, a 31-year-old man, at a restaurant. She seeks his help to deter an annoying guy, and they end up having an unexpected one-night stand. Layla is adamant that it was just a one-time thing since she recently got out of a relationship and isn’t ready to fall in love again.

On Monday, both Layla and Callan are in for a shock when they discover that he is the temporary professor in her class. Despite Layla’s attempts to keep things casual, Callan finds himself unable to stop thinking about her and becomes deeply affected by her presence. He begins to realize that he might be falling for her, leaving him feeling unsure and vulnerable.

The forbidden nature of their relationship, due to their positions in school and work (with him being her attending physician), adds to the tension. Although they try to keep their distance, their attraction is undeniable. Layla decides to protect her heart by avoiding intimacy, but Callan is persistent and wants more from her. It’s clear that he fell for her almost instantly from the first time they met, and the proximity and engagement charade only intensify his feelings for her each passing day until he knows he’s all in.

Layla feels the same pull towards Callan, but her past douchecanoe of an ex-boyfriend makes her hesitant to fully embrace her feelings. However, as she realizes that Callan is nothing like her ex and is a good, responsible, and dependable guy, she eventually gives in to their mutual attraction.

The story beautifully portrays Callan’s overwhelming love for Layla, which develops rapidly and deeply. Layla takes a bit more time to reciprocate, but it’s heartwarming to witness her realization of how deeply she’s fallen for him. Their relationship is characterized by maturity, honesty, and openness, making it incredibly adorable.

The chemistry between Callan and Layla is off the charts, and the steamy scenes are intense. Their passion and desire for each other are undeniable, and they complement each other perfectly in every way.

Callan’s relationship with his niece is endearing, and his protectiveness towards her adds depth to his character. Layla’s bond with Katy, whom she helps navigate through difficult times, is heartwarming.  The family moments with Callan and Layla acting as parents are incredibly sweet and touching. The development of their relationship, along with the writing style, plot, main characters, side characters, and overall chemistry, make “Irresistibly Wild” an unforgettable read.

I did struggle with this book in a couple of places. Overall this book had great chemistry. There was some shock value with how our hero Callan becomes the guardian of his niece Katy, while it does mirror the heroine’s own tauma, I am not sure it was needed to add to the connection for the characters. It kind of throws you out of the story for a bit. I also think that the author uses some trendy pieces that just felt out of place. ( random nipple piercing I didn’t quite get).
Over it was a good read and it was nice to touch base with some of my favorite characters in this world. It is incredibly disappointing the author chose not to add content or trigger warnings on this book. They are not in the front matter of the ebook or in the description. This book 100% need them!
