If you watched Twister growing up like I did, or even more recently Twisters, then this is the perfect book for you! I had seen so many people talking about it and when I couldn’t decide on an audiobook, I landed on In Stormy Weather and then absolutely devoured it. It’s no mystery why it’s gotten so popular – the small-town rivals-to-lovers feelings combined with the intensity of summer storms really brought everything to life.

“How do I tell her I went into meteorology because she went into meteorology?”

Quincy Monroe is one of my new favorite “women in STEM” characters. She is a weather & meteorology social media influencer who uses her platform to educate inform a large platform of subscribers of her online show. Working in a male-dominated field (with a gender neutral name) has presented its fair share of trials and then an opportunity comes to light to be a meteorologist at the national level. Essentially she’s unstoppable. That is, until Sebastian Dunn shows up to ruin it all.

Sebastian is her best friend’s brother. and a long-time rival of hers. To add to that, he’s a TV weatherman with a following of his own back in New York City. This summer promises to be a record-breaking hurricane season and they’re quickly forced into close quarters as they chase the same storm cells. What Quincy doesn’t realize, though, is how much influence she has had on Sebastian’s life and the crush he’s harboring.

In Stormy Weather really felt like some of my favorite movies in book form. Not to mention the amount of courage and confidence Quincy has in her craft. While I loved the romance between the two of them (and it was GOOD), I really was more drawn to watching Quincy stay so dedicated to what she loved. In the times she found herself lacking, Sebastian was ready to bolster her and remind her exactly who she is – or jump in and film with her. I finished the audiobook in a little over a day because I genuinely haven’t had that much fun with a book in awhile. Combine that with Midwest thunderstorms and it’s a real winner. If you’ve managed to not read this one, it’s available now!
