Devil’s Thirst | Jill Ramsower
Amelie has experienced so much in her young life, and is one of the most resilient characters I have read in a long while. Dancing allows her to escape and just be- it is truly therapeutic for her. Landing her first principal role she throws herself into her work- and puts her guard down for a bit. That is until her instincts kick in, and she senses him.
Back to New York to claim what is his- the one person that kept him going during his time in Italy Sante is keeping close tabs on Amelie but is he the only one? One thing you can say for certain about Sante is he does not give up and he protects what is his. He makes it known to not only Amelie but anyone near her that she is his and he protects what is his- at whatever cost.
The twists, the turns, the angst and the chemistry is off the charts and I could not put this book down- but I also never wanted it to end! One of the things that makes Sante such an amazing partner for Amelie is that he sees and anticipates what Amelie needs and he is there to provide it often before she even recognizes that she needs it. And he allows her to be her, and in no way ever wants to change her. Amelie for having such a traumatic past is so kind, open, and caring of others. She truly loves her people down to her core- and with that love she tries to protect them from the world she is desperately trying to escape. While I am not normally a slow burn fan there is just no other way, and Sante and Amelie went at the most perfect pace. Anything else would not have made sense for the characters. I love how we have come full circle from Silent Vow and finally seeing Sante find his happiness! I adore Jill’s mafia world and I am so looking forward to the next installment of this Moretti men series!
