I have been impatiently waiting for this story since I finished the Cowboy Classified series, and I am not disappointed in what Janice Whiteaker gave us. Liza and Ben have been circling each other through the other books, and now we know why.
These two, there is so much hurt, and anger, and animosity, and confusion between them. I wasn’t sure if they were ever going to move past all of those feelings and get to the one that binds them together. LOVE. These two have a great love for each other, but life got in the way. You feel the hurt that Liza has each and every time she sees Ben. You feel the frustration that Ben has each and every time that he sees Liza. What happened between them, and the way it happens, I was NOT entirely expecting.
Liza is so strong, but so weak at the same time. She feels like she has to be this specific type of person to be respected as the ranch owner. Ben is the same, and he comes to the realization slowly that he isn’t really any better than the family he had walked away from. There is so much growth with these characters, and I really enjoyed the way their story played out. We get the introduction to couple Ranch hands that work for Liza, and teases into the next book, as well has healthy doses of the Pace family. I think Whiteaker did these two justice and I am excited to see where she takes us next.
