Review and Thoughts:
What a great start to a news series. This quick and sexy low angst read is perfect way to spend an afternoon reading. A Classic best friend’s little sis “forbidden” romance. (Not a boyfriend training session as promised in the blurb.) There is a nice amount of steam in this story but short enough to provide the perfect escape in a few hours.
Hayes and Maren have been holding back their feelings for years, so it doesn’t take long before they’re heating up the pages.
The story follows Hayes, a serial dater. He tends to have relationships but quickly lets them fall apart due to lack of effort from him. He moves from one girl to the next without ever putting his heart on the line, and there’s always something off about each relationship. His latest breakup has Hayes deciding to take a break from dating. A weekend getaway brings him closer to his best friend’s little sister, Maren causing him to question his relationship woes.
I wasn’t sold on the timid, somewhat submissive Maren, but did enjoy the book from start to finish. It’s very much a low angst and steamy with a quick pace without ever lingering on anything too heavy read. All in all, it’s a very solid start to a fun, steamy new series. It is very much Ryan’s style, with a group of friends you’ll want more of and a romance that’s light and sexy. There are a couple of issues I wasn’t 100% in love with but over all it was good. This was a 3.5-4 star read for me.
