Atonement Sky by Nalini Singh
A beautifully emotional return to the Psy-Changeling world
Reading Atonement Sky felt like sinking into something familiar and deeply comforting. Nalini Singh continues to craft stories that feel both expansive and intimate, and this one hit every emotional beat I was hoping for.
We finally get a full look at WindHaven, home of the falcon changelings, and I loved every detail. Adam Garrett has appeared before, but this was the first time we got to see the full picture. He is loyal, protective, and still deeply shaped by a tragedy from his past. Eleri, the Justice-Psy whose time is running out, wrecked me. She is worn thin and facing the end of her life, yet still trying to make things right and bring a killer to justice.
Their shared history adds weight to every interaction. This is a story about atonement, grief, and choosing connection even when it feels impossible. Adam could have stayed angry. Eleri could have shut down completely. Instead, they find their way back to each other in a way that felt raw and deeply emotional.
The mystery surrounding the Sandman killer was sharply written and kept me guessing. I really appreciated how it tied into the larger struggles of the Js, adding more depth to a part of Psy society that has often been overlooked.
What stood out most, though, was the hope woven through the pain. Even in the darkest moments, there is a sense that love, family, and community can still win. That matters. Especially now.
Atonement Sky reminded me why I keep coming back to this world.
