Behind Closed Doors by Shain Rose

The premise of Behind Closed Doors hooked me immediately—teacher turned temporary nanny for a powerful, morally gray billionaire with dangerous secrets? I was in.

The story opens with a high-stakes school attack that pulls the FMC into Jameson Knight’s shadowy world, and that beginning had me fully invested. I enjoyed the secret society / mafia-adjacent elements, the protective single-dad dynamic, and the “nothing is what it seems” vibe surrounding Paradise Grove.

That said, the pacing felt a bit uneven for me. The middle dragged slightly and leaned heavily into instalust, which made the emotional connection feel less developed than I hoped. Still, it’s an entertaining read if you enjoy messy rich people, dark secrets, and plenty of tension.
