If you have triggers, please check the CWS on the author’s website for this book before reading. If you don’t buckle up and enjoy the ride.
Ramiro Jimenez just watched his future be lowered into the ground. The death of his fiancé leaves him with custody of two young boys and grief that he has also tried to bury. Sara began falling for Ramiro from the first moment she met him. There was always a reason for them not to be and she can never tell him no, especially in a time of need.
Sara finds herself living with Ramiro and his children, René and Oscar, as they attempt to make sense of their new lives. At the same time Sara recognizes that she cannot put her own life on hold while caring for others. These are two characters that have loved and lost and are trying to figure out how to deal with life when things occur unexpectedly. They are navigating a very unique situation, which makes their actions so believable.
I was really wondering what kind of ride I signed up for through most of this book. Sara is such a strong, independent, and caring person that I want to be her friend. I feel like she takes all the advice that is typically given to grieving or heartbroken people and tries so hard to make the most of it. Ramiro is a heartbroken man that does not know how to express all the big emotions he feels, or how to teach young boys how to deal with a big loss. He has to confront a lot of things he has pushed aside for his future to be what he wants. I questioned where this was going many times but I am so happy that I stuck with it to the end.
