Review: Perfectly You by Claudia Burgoa
Rating: 4/5 PoP: 75% Luna Harbor #2
This book transports us back to Luna Harbor, a quaint island town outside of Seattle. We were introduced to the town in the previous books as the Cantú family arrived to help their ailing grandfather with the town. By extension the members of the band Far From Grace have also relocated. Fisher Hannigan is the keyboardist for the band and a well known flirt and prankster. But really he is a man of many talents that takes care of everyone around him. Nathalie Brennan is an ER doctor in New York, who is being weighed down by the overbearing expectations of her overachieving family. She makes a distrastic decision to up and leave to take over the medical practice left to her by her grandfather in Luna Harbor.
When Nat arrives in Luna Harbor things are less than ideal. Her “apartment” is a playroom, the practice has not been updated for decades, and she has no patients. Fisher is attracted at first sight but he behaves (for the most part) and takes care of her without any expectations. However, when a baby is dropped into Fish’s life, Nat is his saving grace. They go from acquaintances, to friends, to instant family. It is a strange transition for sure.
As this book was progressing, I was unsure of where it was really going for a bit even with the foreshadowing in the prologue. We get a bit of Nathalie finding her way and Fisher doing his things, including work with The Organization. I had some hesitation about the authenticity of Nat and Fish’s feelings for each other as they first began their relationship. I was afraid that Lang was correct that one or both of them were suffering from baby fever. But as things unfolded, it worked and was what they both needed. I should have been prepared for a shocking revelation or two from Claudia, I was not. The last quarter of this book really brought everything together and solidified them as a family.
Luna Harbor is growing and I am excited to see what is to come and who will be there. I know Lang’s book is not next but I am extremely curious how we are going to learn to love him. Until then, I will be happy to see the others find their love in Luna Harbor.
