Anytime Lexi Blake gives a new book for her McKay-Taggart family, you know it is going to be an amazing piece of fiction that you can’t put down. Michael and Vanessa’s story is no different. You know that when Michael makes some choices from the get go that they are going to blow up in his face, and they do in a spectacular way. I loved Vanessa. She is a lot lost, and trying to figure out just exactly who she is and what she wants to do. During all of this, the is creating a stir at with Julian Lodge, and if you have read any other books where he shows up, he is a larger than life character that sometimes acts before he thinks. Of course, you get those moments of tenderness, the steamy moments that you know Blake can’t leave out. But you also get those doses of extreme vulnerability from both Vanessa and Michael. And of course, it goes without saying that you get the Wisdom of Ian Taggart, and he never disappoints. Blake in true fashion, is a little bit of a sadist in the fact that she teases us with that over arching storyline that will travel through a few books, but won’t wrap up for another couple. But also gives us that little tease into the beginnings of the next book. Lexi Blake is a seasoned and skilled writer that continues to amaze and stimulate my senses.
