Sweet Obsession | Riley Hart

I am not sure if you are supposed to cry as much as I did reading this dark romance.  But OH MY GOODNESS the feelings that Riley Hart made me feel! GAHH- Rory has been such a shining star in this series. He is so very complex and just LOVES so big. He was most definitely going to need someone very special that not only understands him but also his relationship with his friends but especially Cil. 

Rory is such a complex character with so many emotions and so much love. On the outside one might think he is just a guy who loves to have fun but Rory is fiercely protective of his people, and would put his life on the line for any of them without a single hesitation. While Rory has so much love with T, Cil, Ollie, Aislin, and Dean it isn’t romantic love – which ironically didn’t seem on his radar. 

Shai has had to be an adult for most of life. Taking care of himself and his mom. He is mature way beyond his years and desperately needs someone to love and care for him the way that he cares for others. I love that Shai finally was taking something for himself and lived his life for himself for the first time ever. 

I am a total sucker for a ‘meet cute’, and let’s say theirs are pretty epic- and so very on brand for them! Rory and Shai went from zero to 100 in a blink of an eye but it couldn’t have been a different way. They needed that time to understand one another, and grow as a couple. Both have a lot of trauma in the past that they are working through and people that rely on them and they both needed that time to be selfish in a sense and take what they needed to be happy. Rory and Shai had some undeniable chemistry and literally couldn’t keep their hands off one another. One of the things that stood out to me the most was there were several times that Rory explored his desires and those around him supported him, accepted him, and made it a safe space for him to express himself. 

Folks this is not a standalone. You cannot just read Rory and Shai’s book. It simply will not make sense and you will think they are a bunch of weirdo’s. I mean, to be fair you will still think they are weirdo’s but you will love them. And I am telling you that you will LOVE THEM every.single one of them. This little group of mini mob men and their loves made me want to protect the morally gray at all costs. This series is so amazing in so many ways so if you are into dark romance with morally gray characters that make you fall in love with them you most definitely want to read this series (the audiobooks are also stellar so I highly recommend those, too!)!
