Married to the Scottish Player by Sara Ney

A double booking, a drunken wedding, and a whole lot of fun.

Married to the Scottish Player is a fun, fast read with a premise that delivers exactly what it promises. A double booking, one cabin, one bed, and two people who absolutely should not work together—and yet somehow do.

Annabelle and Maverick are most compelling as a couple. Their banter is sharp and natural, and the “forced” proximity creates some genuinely hilarious situations. Maverick is all in early and watching Annabelle’s guard come down felt satisfying. The moments where they get a little vulnerable with each other were my favorite parts of the book.

The relationship develops quickly and a couple of elements felt like more than the story needed. That said, I had a genuinely good time with this one, and the grand gesture near the end was perfectly swoony.

Sometimes the best mistakes are the ones you choose to keep—and this book makes a strong case for that.
