Cynthia Eden has spun off her Wilde Ways series into more hijinks with agents. You do not need to read that series before starting this one, because she writes these as true standalones. Characters appear but the stories do not cross over.
This series starter introduces Constantine Leos as he finds Juliet Laurent to protect her. She has recently been outed as a lost princess and there are people after her.
Juliet was raised in the US without knowing her true identity. She has no idea why there is this need to protect her, and she wants to live her life just as she always has. Unfortunately for her, that doesn’t work so well.
Con is a man that lives with demons and shadows because of his background. He has an instant connection/attraction to Juliet but doesn’t want to act on it. However, fate that fickle thing does not quite allow that one to happen. They enter into a fake engagement to protect Juliet, but there is truly nothing fake about it. Cynthia Eden is one of my go-to authors, and she never disappoints.
