Chasing the Fire by Paisley Hope

A highly anticipated finale that brings Silver Pines full circle, with mixed emotional payoff.

Chasing the Fire closes out the Silver Pines series with one of its most anticipated couples, and I was especially looking forward to Olivia and Asher’s story.

There are moments where this one works. Asher’s devotion to Olivia comes through, and the small-town warmth that defines Laurel Creek is still present.

That said, this installment didn’t fully deliver on the buildup for me. Olivia and Asher’s relationship felt more surface-level than expected, and I found myself wanting more depth to stay invested. The story leans heavily into familiar tropes, and the pacing is weighed down by repetition. The frequent intimate scenes began to overshadow the quieter, character-driven moments that might have strengthened their connection.

A late addition to Asher’s backstory added intrigue, but it felt out of step with the tone of the series as a whole.

I’ve enjoyed my time in Laurel Creek and with the Ashby family, and readers who have loved this series may still find a lot to enjoy in this final installment.

While Chasing the Fire wasn’t my favorite, it may still work for you—especially if you’ve been invested in this series from the start. You can pre-order your copy HERE or request if from your local library.

My top pick in the series remains Freeing the Wild (read my review linked in the title).
