Review: Bulldog by Delta James
If you’re looking for a story that wastes no time and dives right into the action, this one’s for you! The opening scene is a thrilling underground fencing club match between the fierce and determined American Lady Raven (Olivia) and the sharp-witted British Bulldog (Nigel). Olivia’s skill as a UN translator might make her a pro at handling words, but it’s her fencing moves that really kick things off. And Nigel? He’s a British Lord and MI5 operative—though Olivia has no clue who he really is when she decides to play dirty during their match. Spoiler alert: she finds out quickly!
Both Olivia and Nigel are likable and well-defined characters, with banter that hits just the right notes. Their chemistry sizzles, but what kept me hooked was the action-packed pace, a dash of mystery, and just the right amount of suspense to keep things moving. I will say I wished the story had been a little longer—it wrapped up faster than I would have liked—but it still delivered a complete and satisfying read.
For fans of spice, be aware that there are elements of spanking, domestic discipline, and D/s power exchange, though it’s on the milder side for the genre. It’s woven into the story seamlessly and fits well with the dynamic between Olivia and Nigel.
I’m already looking forward to the next installment in this series, which I hope will spotlight another intriguing character from the Baker Street crew. If you’re into fast-paced, action-filled romance with a little spice, this one’s definitely worth checking out!
