Whiskey Charm | Walker Rose

 I am a sucker for a memorable ‘meet cute’ and Haven and Prescott’s is so very memorable.  The way that Walker Rose describes it I felt like I was right there watching these two- and the way it was woven into the book was perfect!
Prescott is making a pit stop in Huckleberry Springs, Montana to get back on her feet. From the start I liked Prescott. She is funny, clearly has a big heart, though, and brave but she is really down on herself. Prescott definitely needed some comfort and people to wrap her up and love on her for a bit and the town of Huckleberry Springs was happy to do that along with her gruff bar owning father…in his own way, of course!

Haven has watched those that he is closest to find love, get married and live a full life. While Haven loves his family, his whiskey and his ranch he most definitely likes to tell himself that is enough. However, his brothers can see that he is just not fulfilled like he wants to be. Iverson and Durban might be tough guys with a soft heart for their ladies; they also have a soft spot for Haven- he is their baby brother after all. While all of the Hennessey brothers carry the weight of rough childhood it seems to weigh on Haven more.

I love how Haven and Prescott tried so hard to skirt around their attraction and use the kittens and Meadow as little buffers to spend time with each other. Their non-dates literally cracked me up.  It was so clear to those around them they were most definitely a “thing”.   They just so naturally fit with one another, each knowing when to ask questions and when to naturally stay quiet to let the other pour their heart out. Of course they avoided the topic of their feelings for each other. It was like a little game of chicken with their hearts both too afraid to put their feelings out into the world! I love how Iverson and Durban intervened and called Haven out- and of course Silas in his own special way did, too! Whiskey Charm is definitely a feel good read and made me feel like I was sitting with old friends hearing about the time they fell in love! I have loved every single minute I have spent in Huckleberry Springs and I cannot wait for what is next!
