Single Dad Dilemma by Karla Sorensen
When a guarded wanderer meets a devoted single dad, everything they thought they knew about love changes.
Two grumps, two kids, one very opinionated dog, and an emotional slow burn that hit every one of my soft spots.
I’ve been intrigued by Barrett King since Lessons in Heartbreak, and Single Dad Dilemma gives him the story he deserves. Karla Sorensen blends heartfelt family dynamics, humor, and slow-building tension so beautifully here. Barrett’s world revolves around his job and his kids—until Lily moves in next door. She’s equally stubborn, independent, and allergic to commitment, which makes their first encounters feel more like skirmishes than meet-cutes. As Lily becomes part of his family’s daily life, those sharp edges soften, and the quiet moments of connection between them feel nothing short of magic.
Lily is one of my favorite Sorensen heroines yet. She’s blunt, guarded, and not a “people person,” but the more you learn about her past, the more you understand her. Watching her open up to Maggie and Bryce was the heart of this story. And yes, Larry the grumpy dog absolutely steals scenes. I also loved the Griffin and Ruby cameos.
Barrett and Lily’s chemistry is off the charts, but what really makes their romance shine is how they challenge and show up for each other. They learn that love doesn’t have to look perfect to be real—it just has to be intentional.
Karla Sorensen continues to prove why she’s one of the best in sports romance, and I sincerely hope this spins off into a full football series, because I’m not ready to leave Buffalo behind.
Warm, witty, and full of heart, Single Dad Dilemma is everything I want in a contemporary romance.
