Review: Hero by Lauren Rowe
Hero by Lauren Rowe is an emotional roller coaster that took me on a profound journey of love after grief. There were moments when I found myself sobbing, overwhelmed by the fear and pain the characters endured, and other times when I laughed out loud. This book truly tugs at your heartstrings, evoking every emotion imaginable.
The story is beautifully written and touched me on such a deep level. I was fully invested in Colby and Lydia’s journeys, praying they would find their way through the hurt and heartache to reach their well-deserved happily ever after. If anyone deserves happiness, it’s Colby and Lydia.
Colby, a firefighter who risks his life for strangers every day without hesitation, is the epitome of strength and determination. He’s a fighter, through and through, with a never-give-up attitude. When he wakes up after a traumatic event, Lydia is the first person he sees. Their connection is immediate, but Lydia is a woman deeply scarred by her past. As Colby’s physiotherapist, she’s tasked with helping him heal, all while carrying the weight of her own overwhelming grief. Despite her pain, she’s a beacon of support, comfort, and hope to everyone around her.
Lydia’s children nearly stole the show for me. They were just so precious and added an extra layer of warmth and charm to the story. Their presence softened some of the heavier moments and provided a glimmer of light in the midst of the characters’ emotional turmoil.
It was also a delight to see the other Morgan brothers make appearances throughout the story. The love and banter between them were heartwarming and gave the book an extra boost of familial joy.
From the very first chapter, I was hooked, and if I could give this book more than 5 stars, I absolutely would. Hero is an unforgettable read, and I can’t recommend it enough. Lauren Rowe has delivered a captivating, heart-wrenching story of love, loss, and healing. Loved, loved, loved Hero!
