Review: Hockey Wife by Kate Meader
Hockey Wife by Kate Meader delivers all the steamy, heartfelt goodness you’d expect from a top-tier hockey romance, and I absolutely loved every moment of it. The “accidentally married in Vegas” and “marriage of convenience” tropes are executed to perfection, with plenty of tension and swoon-worthy moments between Banks and Georgia.
Georgia is a standout character. She’s not just a flighty socialite—she’s smart, witty, and battling her own grief while trying to find her place in the world. Her journey of self-discovery is so relatable, and watching her come to terms with who she truly is, especially around Banks, was deeply satisfying. She hides so much of herself from the world, and yet, with Banks, she slowly begins to unravel in the best ways.
Banks, on the other hand, is so much more than the mama’s boy image he projects. His quiet strength, combined with the emotional and physical weight he carries, makes him a compelling hero. Recently traded to the Chicago Rebels, Banks is facing what might be his last season in the NHL, making his internal struggles even more poignant. His connection with Georgia is electric, and watching him realize that there’s more to life than hockey—perhaps even love—was a beautiful progression.
The chemistry between them is off the charts, from their fake marriage charade to the moments where they can’t deny their real feelings. The way they balance each other out—grumpy x sunshine, big guy & petite gal—creates such a dynamic relationship, with plenty of “my wife” moments that had me grinning.
Overall, Hockey Wife is a perfect blend of humor, heart, and heat. It’s a story of second chances—not just at love but at truly living the life you want, beyond expectations. With a solid plot and well-crafted characters, Kate Meader gives us a romance worth rooting for.
