Show ‘Em How | Jami Davenport
When the Bang brothers hockey collab was announced I was so pumped….then we get to meet the family in Lace ‘Em Up and I was even more excited! Getting the chance to dive into different hockey worlds has been so much fun and the way King talked about Jakob I couldn’t wait to meet him and his rowdy boys! And Stella antics is just the cherry on top!
I will be honest, I expected Jakob to be a little more grumpy but I think he is too tired to be more grumpy; I think he is just so hurt by his ex-wife and closes himself off. Jakob’s 5 year old twins are a handful and also struggling after their mom left, so being a single dad along with a busy hockey/work schedule he really just needs someone to come in and boss him around. So when the last person he thought he would see again becomes his nanny he works overtime to keep his feelings locked down all while attempting to keep his meddling mother at bay!
Gardenia is driven and goal oriented people might not expect her to be a nanny but man does she knock it out of the park. She works hard to build a relationship with the twins and has them wrapped around her finger in no time. Gardenia is not afraid to be herself and is a natural caretaker. She hasn’t had the easiest life but is still so giving of herself. I love that she had Stella and that Mama Bang was able to see what a true gem she was for Jakob and the boys.
Jakob and Gardenia have some amazing chemistry and built a solid friendship that wasn’t about hockey or the boys, they had so much in common. Gardenia did a great job of pushing Jakob out of his comfort zone and Jakob gave Gardenia the safety and security of home and family. And of course, Stella Bang is amazing and her meddling was top tier. I cannot wait to see what is next for the Bang siblings, and I am so intrigued by the Portland Icehawks and I can’t wait to dive into their books as well!
