Mafia romance is always a comfort read for me. I always enjoy how authors create their own underworld with their own traditions and rules. I really love where Smoke and Macey took us with this new series! Some things to note before you head into this series; check for trigger warnings. And you should also know going in that it is a duet and there is a cliffhanger….so if that isn’t your jam the wait isn’t long for book #2 in the duet. The wait isn’t long for book #2, and I will tell you I am so anxious for how Angel and Gaven’s story wraps up. Friends, this was a WILD ride. SO wild, and so amazing. Intense is the only word that I feel adequately describes Gaven. Gaven is sort of a lone wolf in the mafia world, and a hired hitman. Once he sets his sites on Angel it is all over. This man is possessive and once he decides Angel is his he doesn’t like to have her out of his sight.
Angel is the second born daughter of the head of the Price Syndicate, and she is very naive about her father’s business. She also has big plans for her life, and they do not involve the business her father is involved in. At 18 she dreams of embarking on a new life at college and living a normal life. That is until she finds out she is to be married to Gaven. Angel’s family dynamic is also very interesting, her relationship with her sister, Jackie and a lot of sister relationships in the mafia. Jackie is really a character that you love to hate.
Angel and Gaven have some seriously explosive chemistry. And let’s just say Gaven is very kinky and takes what he wants from Angel. I found myself so engrossed in this book and the authors really left us readers wanting more from this couple! Angel surprised me in the best way possible!!! If you love mafia, an age gap, some seriously intense sexual scenes, smart and sassy heroines this book is definitely for you!
