Possess Me by Michelle Heard
“You’re embedded in my soul, Everleigh. To remove you would rip me apart.”
Possess Me by Michelle Heard is a book that I have been waiting for since I met Alex in book one. And about 60% into the book I was loving it. Then it just sort of stalled out for me. Alek and Everleigh go through so much in the first 40% of this book that you wondered just what direction Heard was going to go. The book itself is separated into two parts the past and the pretense and the way that she breaks it up works. But in the past I felt let down.
There was so much anger, emotion, and secrets. Possess me could have went so many directions. Instead of a lot of conflict we have these two characters coming back together, which I enjoyed. However, the final conflict with the man that was the catalyst for the separation between these two was disappointing. Aside from the reconnection between Alex and Everleigh, there wasn’t a lot happening. I gave it a 3.5 because I did enjoy the story, but Heard dropped the ball for me. Maybe it was my anticipation for this story and I had expectations, but overall the story just wasn’t enough for me
