The RSVP by Lauren Blakely
“Our days are full of secrets. Our nights are for seduction… “
The RSVP is book one in The Virgin Society from author Lauren Blakely. I read this blurb and knew it was going to be a must read for me.
Harlow Granger has had a crush on her father’s business for ages but now that she has turned 21 has decided it’s time to make a play for the man who has captured her interest. In her young life she has seen and experienced a lot of life. Harlow is thoughtful and show a lot of maturity. Her relationship with her father is complicated but not form her doing. She remains the mature and steady force in that relationship. I do wish that Harlow had spoken up for herself soon in the story when it comes to her father and some of the things he does.
Bridger James is 10 years older and also happens to be Harlow’s dad business partner. He spends his days looking for his next TV production. I really liked Bridger. He was such a smart and thoughtful character. He is a complicated person with stories of his own to tell.
There are some small touches in this story that really created the whole picture of this story. The letters from Harlow’s deceased mom, the Lost and Found Pictures between Harlow and James along with their shared loved of Broadway.
This is a slow burn romance with such amazing intensity between these two characters. The connection between them was so well down creating this chemistry that is off the charts. When you add in their mutual pining and secrecy of their connection this story is an inferno of attraction. Once I started, I could not put it down.
If you like an age gap romance with a touch of the forbidden this might be the read for you. I really relished this story and the characters. I can’t wait for the rest of The Virgin Society to get their own HEAs.
